Elyse O’Connor’s voice has been described as a lush rainbow
prism of clear tones resonating through depths
of emotion. Thousands of listeners have been
drawn to her confident and agile interpretation
of songs in crossover genres-new age, blues,
classical, Celtic, folk pop, Broadway, spiritual,
international, and the American Songbook. For more than two decades, this soprano has met the challenges of dual talents in language and in music and has in effect pursued two careers simultaneously: She has worked as an adjunct faculty in undergraduate writing and literature at two major universities-- Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Boston-and has spent time in between as a concert singer and private music student and teacher. Having completed two graduate degrees at Simmons College of Boston and years of experience singing for Boston audiences of all ages, Elyse is now focusing more on her career as an independent digital recording artist. |
| Currently, Elyse is working on the completion
of her newest album, “Just Love,” a collection
of new age and adult contemporary songs and
vocalises that she has written and/or arranged.
Elyse is joined by David Cullen, Grammy Award
winning guitarist and Corin Nelsen, Grammy
Award winning engineer, to complete her newest
album project at Will Ackerman’s Imaginary
Road Studio in Vermont. Winner of the New
Age Music Grammy and founder of Windham Hill
Record Labels, Will Ackerman is overseeing
Elyse’s “Just Love” project, together with
Corin Nelsen as project engineer and producer. Elyse’s Just Love Album Preview is now available online and promises a listening experience that is soothing, playful, and inviting. Check her out-she is a communicator on many levels and in both verbal and non-verbal channels. Listening and being heard is her venue, and she is here to deliver the gifts of her art and her education. Having performed as a both a choral and solo artist for events sponsored by Boston Bel Canto Opera, Longwood Opera Company, and at some of Boston’s finest temples, churches, and cathedrals, Elyse has proven herself an accomplished musician and a voice of exquisite and memorable quality. Often accompanying herself on a classical guitar, she has left many audiences transfixed and inspired. Her private vocal training sessions with the late Madame Iride Pilla of the Boston Conservatory, Bradley Pennington, founder and director of Boston Bel Canto Opera Company, Cantor Gregor Shelkan, and Scott Brumit of Longwood Opera have proven her adaptable to a broad repertoire, including classical and jazz vocals, show tunes, popular music, and operatic areas. As a result of this diva’s extensive vocal training and performances in New England alone, thousands have enjoyed her mastery of crossover vocal arrangements. Performing also for many years for MUSE, Inc. (Music Serving Elders), a non-profit organization, Elyse has brought her quality solo and duo entertainment to health care facilities, senior centers, and shut-in elders. Reminiscent of Enya, Nana Mouskouri, Sara Brightman, or even a female Michael Feinstein, Elyse has a distinct sound that is sheer mastery in its own original art form, one that delivers a new flavor and style to songs we know, songs in other languages, and songs Elyse has composed from her own heart. With the advent of the internet, this performer’s music is now available to a global audience and can be purchased on both her own website and on several major digital sites: Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Mp3Tunes, MSN Music, Rule Radio, Musicnet, SONY Connect, etc. |

| "What I have learned from Professor
O'Connor is that love should always come
first in anything you do, and that you should
always give one hundred percent of yourself
and ask only for something as gratifying
as a smile in return." -- HRH Prince Cedza Dlaminiof Swaziland (grandson of Nelson Mandela) |
